Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee chairman, Nana Akwasi Apinkra Awuah, has urged fans to remain calm as the Ghana Police Service investigates the tragic death of staunch supporter Francis Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley. Pooley was fatally stabbed during Kotoko’s Matchday 19 clash against Nsoatreman FC.
A vigil was held at Baba Yara Stadium in his honor. Nana Apinkra assured fans that national security and the Inspector General of Police are committed to resolving the case. He encouraged anyone with information to report it to the club.
Six arrests have been made, with two suspects, including former MP Ignatius Baffour Awuah, granted bail. Meanwhile, Kotoko has withdrawn from all football activities until justice is served.
