Liam Lawson promoted to replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing

Liam Lawson will replace Sergio Perez as Max Verstappen's teammate at Red Bull for the 2024 Formula 1 season.

Despite having limited F1 experience, Lawson impressed during two stints with AlphaTauri and Red Bull, filling in for injured Daniel Ricciardo in 2023 and joining Red Bull in 2024 after Ricciardo's departure.

Lawson scored points in both the U.S. and Brazilian Grands Prix, showcasing strong technical feedback and a competitive mindset. While he was outqualified by teammate Yuki Tsunoda, Red Bull values Lawson’s resilience and race craft, notably defending against Fernando Alonso and battling Perez.

Team boss Christian Horner praised Lawson for his determination and ability to compete with the best.
