Crime Scene Investigators are at the Liverpool FC parade incident site. This occurred on Water Street on May 27, 2025. A car drove into a crowd during the victory parade. Nearly 50 people were injured, including four children. Authorities have arrested a suspect and do not consider it terrorism.
A man was arrested for attempted murder after the crash. He allegedly drove the car that hit pedestrians shortly after the parade ended. Over 50 people were hurt when the car plowed into the crowd.
Merseyside Police confirmed a 53-year-old man from West Derby is in custody. He faces charges of attempted murder, dangerous driving, and drug-related offenses. Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims spoke at a news conference on Tuesday.
Sims stated that the driver accessed the road by following an ambulance. The ambulance was responding to someone having a suspected heart attack. The roadblock was temporarily lifted for this emergency.
Fifty people received treatment at hospitals across the region after the incident. Eleven remain hospitalized but are in stable condition and recovering well. Police reported no prior intelligence about such an incident occurring.
They do not consider it an act of terrorism and are not seeking other suspects. The identity of the arrested driver has not been released yet, as is standard practice in Great Britain until formal charges are made.
