Liverpool make latest attempt to ward off Real Madrid interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold

However, they remain hopeful about signing Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is also out of contract at the end of the season.

Real Madrid can soon offer Alexander-Arnold a pre-contract, but Liverpool is eager to avoid losing him for free and is working on a new deal.

Reports suggest Liverpool has tabled an offer that would see the right-back earn around €20m per year, significantly higher than his current salary.

Although this is more than Real Madrid might offer, the club could consider breaking their wage structure to avoid paying a transfer fee.
