Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has urged coaches to give more local players opportunities in the Black Stars, emphasizing their determination to fight for the nation.
Asare’s appeal follows his standout performance in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. The 32-year-old kept a clean sheet in Ghana’s 5-0 victory over Chad and was part of the squad in their 3-0 win against Madagascar.
Speaking to *3Sports*, Asare stressed that domestic-based players should not be overlooked if they prove their worth. He dismissed the notion that playing locally makes national team selection difficult, reaffirming the commitment of home-based talents.
Coach Otto Addo has since confirmed Asare as Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper, with expectations high for his next outings against Chad and Mali in September.
