Ademola Lookman has responded to Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini’s criticism, calling his comments “deeply disrespectful” after missing a penalty in their Champions League defeat to Club Brugge.
Returning from injury, Lookman scored within 36 seconds of being substituted in, but later missed a crucial penalty after controversially taking the ball from designated takers Charles De Ketelaere and Mateo Retegui.
Gasperini slammed him, saying, “He is one of the worst penalty takers I’ve ever seen.”
Lookman defended himself, stating that the designated taker had instructed him to take the penalty and that he acted to support the team. His response highlights growing tension with Gasperini.
Despite the setback, Lookman remains determined to move forward and continue contributing to Atalanta’s success.
