Luis de la Fuente asks fans ‘please ‘don’t kill Lamine Yamal’

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has issued a message to La Roja and Barcelona fans regarding 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, emphasizing the need for calm and realistic expectations.

Yamal has been in sensational form for Barcelona, recording 12 goals and 16 assists across all competitions in 2024/25.

However, de la Fuente reminded fans that the young star is still in his development stage and just turned 17 during the European Championship. He urged Yamal to enjoy his game but warned that he should be prepared for criticism as he matures.

Yamal is expected to start for Spain in their upcoming UEFA Nations League quarterfinals against the Netherlands, alongside teammates like Álvaro Morata and Nico Williams. The squad also includes six Barcelona players, though Gavi is notably absent.
