Maguire is 'a leader again' for Man Utd, says Amorim

Ruben Amorim believes Harry Maguire has rediscovered his leadership at Manchester United after a challenging few years.

Despite being stripped of the captaincy by Erik ten Hag in 2023, Maguire rejected a move to West Ham and fought to regain his place in the team. Amorim, who took charge in November, has used Maguire in a central back-three role, where he’s flourished.

"I feel he is a leader again," said Amorim. "He believes in himself a lot and he's doing a great job." Amorim praised Maguire's performance, especially in the FA Cup win over Arsenal, where he made a team-high 11 clearances. "He's excellent with the ball," Amorim added, highlighting Maguire's importance in defending set-pieces and crosses.
