Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth has departed after just five months in the role. Officially starting in July after leaving Newcastle, Ashworth’s exit was finalized following United's 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest.
A club statement described the decision as mutual, thanking Ashworth for his contributions during a transitional period.
United has struggled this season, sacking Erik ten Hag in October after a poor start, costing the club £10.4m to settle his contract. Ruben Amorim was appointed as his replacement for an £11m release fee.
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has faced criticism for scrapping ticket concessions and introducing a minimum price of £66, triggering fan protests.
United sits 13th in the Premier League and reported a net loss of £113.2m for the 2023-24 financial year.
