Hideki Matsuyama set a new PGA Tour record for 72 holes with a score of 35 under par, winning the season-opening event at The Sentry in Hawaii.

The 2021 Masters champion carded a final round 65, breaking Cameron Smith's previous record of 34 under set in 2022.

Matsuyama's round included an eagle, seven birdies, and a bogey, with a birdie on the 18th hole securing the record.

American Collin Morikawa finished second with a 32 under, following a round of 67. England’s Harry Hall finished 23 under, while Aaron Rai and Robert MacIntyre were two shots behind him
