Maupay’s ‘smile’ post stokes fury among Everton supporters

Neal Maupay who currently plays for Marseille on loan from Everton has angered the club’s fanbase after making a provocative comment about the Toffees on social media.

Following Everton's 2-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, which marked their seventh defeat of the Premier League season, Maupay, who is on loan at Marseille, took to X to say, "Whenever I'm having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile.r"

The 28-year-old, still under contract with Everton, had a difficult spell at Goodison Park, scoring just one goal in 29 Premier League appearances after joining from Brighton in 2022. His remark has sparked widespread outrage among Everton supporters.
