Kylian Mbappe has won the European Golden Shoe for the first time. He scored twice in Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Real Sociedad on Saturday.
The French player netted 31 league goals in his debut season in Spain. This achievement also earned him La Liga's top scorer prize.
His double in Real's final game secured his top spot. He finished ahead of Sporting striker Victor Gyokeres, who scored 39 goals, and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, who had 29 goals.
Gyokeres scored eight more league goals than Mbappe. However, he was runner-up due to a weighted-points system that determines rankings.
Goals from players in Europe's top five leagues are worth two points. Goals from leagues ranked sixth to 22nd are worth 1.5 points.
Mohamed Salah needed a hat-trick against Crystal Palace to tie with Mbappe. Instead, he scored once in a 1-1 draw on Sunday.
Mbappe is only the third Real player to win this award. Hugo Sanchez won it in 1989-90, and Cristiano Ronaldo won it three times: 2010-11, 2013-14, and 2014-15.
Gyokeres has been linked with a summer move to Arsenal. He could not catch Mbappe because Sporting's league campaign ended earlier.
After scoring in the Portuguese Cup final against Benfica, Gyokeres finished with 53 goals in 51 games across all competitions.
The top five rankings were as follows: Mbappe (62 points), Gyokeres (58.5), Salah (58), Robert Lewandowski (54), and Harry Kane (52).
