Meet the new leadership of the Ghana Olympic Committee

The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has elected new leaders for Olympic sports.

Richard Kofi Akpokavie is the new President. He replaces Ben Nunoo Mensah, who served for eight years. Mr. Mensah chose not to run again.

Mr. Akpokavie will have three Vice Presidents. Mawuko Afadzinu from the Ghana Table Tennis Federation is the 1st Vice President. Frederick Lartey Otu from the Taekwondo Federation is the 2nd Vice President. Ernest Danso, president of the Ghana Baseball Federation, is the 3rd Vice President.

The daily administration will be led by Mohammed Muniru Kassim. He is currently the General Secretary of the Ghana Swimming Association. Bawah Fuseini, president of Ghana Athletics, will assist him as Assistant Secretary-General.

Evans Yeboah will manage finances as Treasurer. Edward Patrick Nii Lante Bannerman will serve as Assistant Treasurer.

The new board includes representatives from various sports disciplines. Kamal Sulley represents Rowing & Canoeing for Olympic sports. Delphina Quaye represents Swimming, Richmond Rexford Quarcoo represents Squash, George Tettey represents Volleyball, and George Lamptey represents Boxing.

George Owusu Ansah will represent non-Olympic sports. Samuel Tetteh Ayer will represent affiliated bodies.

Three additional members were elected: Nathaniel Johnson for Karate-do, Edwin Amankwah for Armwrestling, and Rafatu Inusah for Triathlon.

This team aims to advance Ghana’s Olympic aspirations with fresh energy and ideas.
