Serie A giants Milan have appointed Sergio Conceicao as their new manager, following the sacking of Paulo Fonseca.
The manner of Fonseca's dismissal has been criticized, with owner Gerry Cardinale reportedly thanking him and wishing him well via a text message. It is claimed that Milan had already agreed a deal with Conceicao last week, indicating that Fonseca's exit was planned.
Fonseca will receive a payout of only eight months' salary, approximately €1.7 million, rather than the full season's pay of €2.5 million. The swift appointment of Conceicao suggests that Milan had been preparing for Fonseca's departure.
