Mira Andreeva wins Indian Wells title

Teenager Mirra Andreeva cemented her status as one of the WTA Tour’s brightest young stars by defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka to win the Indian Wells title.

The 17-year-old Russian staged a remarkable comeback, winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 with a composed and tactical performance.

This marks Andreeva’s second consecutive WTA 1,000 title after her triumph in Dubai, making her the youngest player ever to win a tournament at this level. Her 12-match winning streak has propelled her to a career-high world number six.

During the trophy ceremony, she humorously credited herself for fighting until the end. Andreeva has been tipped as a future world number one, with tennis greats like Andy Roddick and Martina Navratilova praising her potential.
