Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana donate towards 10th Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup

Black Stars players Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana have made a generous donation. They are supporting the 10th Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup. This event will take place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Kawokudi Park in Accra.

The West Ham United and Southampton stars donated a trophy, medals, and GH₵5,000. This cash prize will go to the tournament champions. This year's competition is called the Champions Edition to celebrate its decade-long history.

Organisers expressed gratitude on behalf of the tournament's Chief Patron. The Chief Patron is Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam. They praised Kudus and Sulemana for honoring his legacy of peace and youth empowerment.

Kudus and Sulemana follow other Black Stars players who have donated before. Rashid Sumaila and Andre Ayew also supported this tournament in honor of the Chief Imam.

The Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup gathers youth from over 30 Zongo communities each year. It promotes peace, social cohesion, and community development through football. The event also helps discover young talent from these communities.

This year's edition features 15 selected communities. These include former champions and teams with strong past performances. Defending champions Ashaiman are three-time winners of this tournament.

Other notable teams include Nima (2019 champions), Kasoa (two-time winners), and Maamobi (winners in 2018 and 2023). Additional competing communities are Sabon Zongo, Ashale Botwe, Shukura, Adabraka, Tema, Tuba, Nsawam, Anyaa Zongo, Tunga, and Fadama.

The one-day tournament starts at 8:30 a.m., with the final at 5:00 p.m. It promises a vibrant atmosphere at Kawokudi Park.

Over the years, this cup has become a celebrated event in Zongo communities. It is now an important part of Ghana’s grassroots football calendar.

Sponsors for this year's competition include Afro Arab Group and Verna Mineral Water. Rush Energy Drink and NASCO Electronics will reward outstanding performers with home appliances.
