Galatasaray has accused Fenerbahce's manager, Jose Mourinho, of "physically attacking" Okan Buruk. This incident happened after a heated derby in the Turkish Cup.
The altercation took place at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium after the final whistle. Both managers were speaking with match officials in the center circle. Mourinho approached Buruk from behind and pinched his nose. This caused Buruk to fall to the ground, covering his face.
Galatasaray's vice-president Metin Ozturk commented on the situation. He said, "Our manager Okan and Mourinho congratulated the referees." He added that Mourinho first verbally attacked Buruk and then physically assaulted him. Ozturk questioned what Mourinho thinks of Turkey.
He expressed hope that Fenerbahce would take action before the federation does. Galatasaray won the quarter-final tie 2-1, with Victor Osimhen scoring both goals for them.
BBC Sport has reached out to Fenerbahce for a response. In a post-match news conference, Buruk downplayed the incident. He stated, "There was nothing between me and Mourinho."
Buruk explained that Mourinho pinched his nose from behind, causing a slight scratch. He noted it wasn't a nice or elegant action but wouldn't exaggerate it either.
He emphasized that managers should behave appropriately in such situations. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce substitute Mert Yandas and Galatasaray substitutes Kerem Demirbay and Baris Yilmaz received red cards during a bench melee in stoppage time.
Earlier this year, after a goalless draw in the Turkish Super Lig, Galatasaray announced plans to initiate criminal proceedings against Mourinho for alleged racist statements. The Turkish Football Federation imposed a four-game ban on him along with a fine of £35,194 for two disciplinary issues.
In response, Mourinho filed a lawsuit against Galatasaray for attacking his personal rights.
