Willie Green, head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans, was deeply shaken after receiving news of a tragic incident in New Orleans on New Year's Day.
A man drove his truck into a crowd in the French Quarter, killing 15 people and injuring 30, with the truck flying an Islamic State flag.
Green called it a "senseless act of violence" and expressed the devastation felt by the team, who were in Miami for a game. The attack led to event delays in New Orleans, including the Sugar Bowl.
Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra also expressed horror, and both teams observed moments of silence in honor of the victims.
