LeBron James left Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday with a swollen left leg. He suffered a knee-to-knee collision during the game. The Los Angeles Lakers lost 103-96 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. This loss ended his 22nd NBA season with a first-round playoff exit.
After the game, James expressed uncertainty about his future. He said he doesn't know how much longer he will play. "I don’t have an answer to that," he stated. He plans to discuss it with his family and support group.
James, who is 40 years old, has a player option for the 2025-26 season. This option is worth $52.6 million and must be decided by June 29. If he does not opt in, he will become a free agent.
When asked about improving the Lakers for next season, James was unsure again. "It’s a business," he said regarding roster changes. He noted that only certain players are locked into contracts.
James clarified that when discussing his contract, he wasn't considering other teams. "Just continuing to play, I don’t know where I’m at," he told ESPN. His focus remains on playing rather than switching teams or locations.
