The National Sports Authority (NSA) has denied Hearts of Oak permission to play. Their scheduled match against Nations FC cannot take place at the Accra Sports Stadium. This decision follows a special request from the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The GFA's request has not yet been approved.
Hearts of Oak has faced ongoing challenges with their home venues. The Accra Sports Stadium is traditionally their home ground. Founded in 1911, Hearts of Oak is one of Ghana’s most successful teams. They have won 21 Premier League titles.
The stadium can hold 35,000 fans and has hosted many iconic matches. This includes fierce rivalry games against Asante Kotoko. However, due to availability issues, the team often adapts to other venues.
For much of the 2024-25 season, they used the University of Ghana Stadium as a temporary home. They played several matches there, including a notable win over Heart of Lions on January 31, 2025. They also faced Nsoatreman FC on November 23, 2024.
Despite these victories, the GFA’s club licensing committee rejected the University of Ghana Stadium in March 2025. They cited an uneven pitch surface and security concerns as reasons for this decision. Consequently, Hearts of Oak must seek other options for their matches.
In previous years, venue changes occurred due to renovations and scheduling conflicts at the Accra Sports Stadium.
