The National Sports Authority (NSA) has made a major achievement. They have reclaimed land in Tamale, equivalent to five football fields. This area is located in the Northern regional capital.
Yaw Ampofo Ankrah is the NSA Director General. He was appointed just six weeks ago. He believes that revitalizing sports requires strategic planning and determination.
Under his leadership, innovative initiatives are already underway. Recently, Ankrah visited Tamale to meet with NSA management and staff at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
During this visit, he identified challenges and opportunities. The stadium facilities are deteriorating and need urgent attention. However, there is potential for new investment at Kaladan Park.
Kaladan Park, also known as the "Sakora Pitch," is historic. It has been home to Real Tamale United and many legendary matches. Chief Director Alhaji Abubakar Mahamoud confirmed that the NSA regained control of the park after a long legal battle.
The authority has also secured most encroached lands around the park. This clears the way for significant investments once documentation is complete.
The NSA plans to engage investors for transformative projects at Kaladan Park. This marks an important step in their strategy to improve sports infrastructure and promote regional growth.
