National Stadium set for upgrade following Presidential approval

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the upgrade of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja and the 200-room hostel in Package B of the stadium.

Malam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, confirmed this during a visit by the FCT SWAN.

The planned upgrades include improving the pitch for national teams and making the hostel functional.

Tinubu also aims to invest in sports development by funding sports federations, supporting school sports, sponsoring Nigerian clubs in international competitions, and creating Centres of Excellence for grassroots sports.

Additionally, scholarships will be offered to students excelling in sports and academics. These initiatives will be detailed in the 2025 budget.
