Nations FC is upset after a troubling incident during Matchweek 33. They played Basake Holy Stars in Ampain. The club questions the integrity and safety of Ghanaian football.
Kennedy Boakye Ansah, their Brands and Marketing Manager, expressed strong feelings. He stated they are no longer interested in continuing under these conditions. “Everything depends on the report of the Match Commissioner,” he said. Nations FC plans to file an official complaint with the GFA.
The match at AAK Sports Arena was chaotic. There were reports of hostile treatment towards Nations FC officials and players. Officiating was questionable, and there were alleged security lapses.
Boakye Ansah described a hostile environment from the start. He mentioned threats and intimidation that harmed the spirit of the sport. “They told us either we lose or they kill someone,” he said. This led to their decision not to continue the match.
This is not the first time Nations FC has raised concerns about away matches. However, Sunday’s events seem to have pushed them over the edge. Boakye Ansah's comments have sparked debate about professionalism in Ghanaian football.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not yet commented on this issue. There is growing pressure for a full investigation into what happened during the match. Fans are eager to see if meaningful action will be taken or if it will fade away again.
