Nations FC go top with heavy win as Legon Cities suffer relegation: Gameweek 31 roundup

Nations FC moved to the top of the Premier League. They won 4-1 against Legon Cities on Monday. The match took place at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Kelvin Ampoful scored first in the 28th minute. However, goalkeeper Rabin Ousmane Sanon conceded an own goal in the 40th minute. This left both teams tied at halftime.

In the second half, Nations FC increased their intensity. Emmanuel Annor scored to put them ahead again. Sadiq Alhassan added a third goal in the 82nd minute. Ampoful then scored his second to secure the win.

This victory gives Nations FC 57 points and keeps them at the top with three games remaining. Meanwhile, Legon Cities has been relegated to Division One League.

In other matches, Asante Kotoko kept their title hopes alive with a 4-1 win over Dreams FC. Albert Amoah opened scoring in the 16th minute. Kwame Poku quickly made it 2-0.

Jonathan Nemoredeen gave Dreams FC hope early in the second half. However, Poku scored again in the 61st minute to restore Kotoko's lead. Fernando Bassey added a fourth goal to finish off Dreams.

Mawuli Wayo was key for Hearts of Oak, scoring in the 57th minute. This gave Hearts a 1-0 win over Berekum Chelsea at Golden City Park. The result extends Hearts’ unbeaten run against Chelsea to 11 matches.

FC Samartex 1996 maintained strong home form with a 2-1 victory over Bechem United. Baba Musah and Francis Gyetuah scored for Samartex before Baba Moro Abdulai netted from a penalty for Bechem.

Karela United achieved a significant 3-1 win against Medeama SC at home, moving out of relegation danger. Malik Abubakar scored twice and Ali Alhassan added another goal for Karela. Medeama’s only goal came from Godknows Dzakpasu.

Vision FC improved their survival chances with a crucial 2-0 win over Young Apostles FC. Second-half goals from Edmond Asante and Emmanuel Kyei Baffour secured this important victory.

Basake Holy Stars and Heart of Lions ended their match in a goalless draw at AAK Ampain Arena. Holy Stars had a chance late on but Prince Tweneboah missed a penalty kick.

Accra Lions triumphed in an exciting match against Aduana FC, winning 5-3. Lucky Nwafor and Salman Faris Tahiru each scored twice for Accra Lions, while Musa Hamazata added another goal.

Emmanuel Peprah netted two goals for Aduana FC, along with Emmanuel Marfo's contribution as well. However, Aduana could not keep pace in this high-scoring game filled with chances.
