Netflix has secured the live broadcasting rights for the 2027 and 2031 Women's World Cups in the U.S., marking the streaming service's first full sports coverage deal. FIFA's Gianni Infantino praised Netflix’s commitment to promoting women's football.
The 2027 tournament will be in Brazil, with the 2031 host yet to be confirmed, though potential bidders include England, the UK, and the US.
Netflix has also dabbled in live sports, broadcasting events like the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match.
Additionally, Netflix will air two NFL Christmas Day games as part of a new three-year deal. In the UK, major sports like the Women's World Cup are mandated to be shown on free-to-air channels like BBC and ITV.
