Newly elected GOC executives pay courtesy call on Sports and Recreation Minister

GOC Pays Courtesy Call to Minister for Sports and Recreation

On May 13, 2025, the newly elected Executive members of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) visited the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams. The delegation was led by President Mr. Richard Akpokavie Esq. They aimed to introduce themselves and seek his support in their new roles.

Hon. Kofi Adams welcomed the GOC members warmly. He assured them of his support, emphasizing that sports is a significant business. He noted that it should not rely solely on government efforts.

The Minister expressed excitement about the peaceful organization of their elective congress. He commended the GOC for maintaining a positive image and praised their adoption of the Commonwealth Games Association as part of their mandate.

He encouraged more women to take active roles in the GOC. He urged women not to hesitate in seeking election as members. The Minister also stressed teamwork, stating, "We will succeed only when we work together."

President Richard Akpokavie thanked the Minister for attending their elective congress. He felt it was important to pay homage before starting their work. He pledged full support from all GOC members for the success of sports in Ghana.

Attendees included Alhaji Kamal Sulley, Nana Mankata II, Edwin Amankwa, Rafatu Inusah, Samuel Ayeh, Nii Lante Bannerman, Mawuko Afadzinu, Delphina Quaye, Mohammed Muniru Kassim, Yeboah Evans, George Lamptey, and Ernest Danso.
