Nunoo Mensah to step down in GOC presidency race - Channel1 News

Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), will not seek re-election.

The GOC will hold elections in April 2025. New executives will lead for the next four years.

Nunoo Mensah has served two terms. He stated he wants to serve the country in other ways.

He said, “It would have been an honour to continue serving my nation and sports community. However, I feel a greater call to serve humanity differently.”

He confirmed he will not contest in the upcoming GOC elections.

Nunoo Mensah highlighted his accomplishments during his tenure. These include the Amasaman OlympAfrica project and rehabilitating the Olympic House. He also provided assistance to national federations.

He believes it is time for others to continue their progress. He expressed gratitude for everyone’s support and contributions.

“Thank you all for your uniting support,” he concluded.

Under Nunoo Mensah's leadership, Ghana won an Olympic medal for the first time in 30 years at the 2020 Games.
