Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has voiced strong support for ex-Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi, alleging his removal in 2018 was due to sabotage by individuals pursuing selfish interests.

In a candid Instagram Live session, Gyan praised Nyantakyi's leadership, highlighting his achievements, including becoming CAF Vice President.

He argued that Nyantakyi’s firm stance against internal manipulation earned him enemies, ultimately leading to his exit.

“Nyantakyi provided stability and resisted selfish agendas,” Gyan remarked, lamenting Ghanaian football’s decline since Nyantakyi’s departure.

Critics of Nyantakyi, according to Gyan, prioritized personal gain over progress, contributing to stagnation in the sport.

Nyantakyi led the GFA from 2005 until 2018, a tenure Gyan described as pivotal in elevating Ghanaian football.
