Oasis International School, located in Greda Estates (Teshie-Nungua), has partnered with the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi. They are working on a community outreach initiative at Nsawam Medium Security Prisons.
The visit was organized quickly and received strong support from the school’s Board, Management, and community. Christine-Marie Nyantakyi, CEO of Oasis International School, started discussions after receiving a call for support.
“Our school values love for our learners, teachers, and community,” said Theodore Dowuona-Hyde, Principal of Oasis International School. “Supporting this outreach felt like a natural extension of that mission.”
During the visit, Oasis International School donated ten 50kg bags of rice and 100 bags of sachet water to inmates. This gesture aimed to improve inmate welfare and aid rehabilitation efforts.
The day included a football match and interactions with inmates. Organizers described it as an opportunity to understand the experiences of those in the correctional system. Dowuona-Hyde noted that some inmate stories raised broader social and legal issues worth reflecting on.
The school plans to use insights from this visit in its student development programs. School leadership is also open to supporting similar initiatives with PFAG and Nyantakyi in the future.
Commander DDP Seidu led the management of Nsawam Medium Security Prisons in welcoming visitors and facilitating engagement. This initiative is part of Oasis International School’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda, which focuses on outreach beyond academics.
