Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has good news. A new headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League (GPL) will be announced soon. This follows months of negotiations for a long-term deal.
Okraku is confident about this sponsorship. He believes it will bring financial stability to the league. It will also inject renewed energy into top-flight football in Ghana.
“We’ve been working tirelessly to secure a new sponsorship agreement,” he said. “This will help reposition the Ghana Premier League.” He added that they will soon announce a sponsor who can support the clubs.
Currently, the 2024/25 season lacks a headline sponsor. Betpawa was the main sponsor but withdrew in 2023. They still support the league through a locker room bonus initiative, but their exit created a funding gap.
With only three matches left in the season, this announcement is timely. It is expected to boost morale among clubs and stakeholders alike.
