Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has confirmed that Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare is now Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper following his stellar performances in training and recent World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Asare impressed with two clean sheets, solidifying his position ahead of the team’s next fixture in June.
However, Addo stressed that competition remains strong, with Lawrence Ati Zigi and Joe Wollacott continuing to push for the starting role.
He praised the teamwork and support among the goalkeepers, crediting Asare’s hard work and consistency in both club and national team training.
With Ghana’s qualification campaign set to resume in June, all eyes will be on Asare to maintain his form as the Black Stars’ top shot-stopper.
