Fiifi Tackie, spokesperson for the Ayew family, has criticized Black Stars head coach Otto Addo following his remarks about Andre Ayew’s place in the national team.
Addo, in an interview with Joy Sports on March 27, stated that Ayew has fallen behind other players in the selection process despite his form for French club Le Havre. The former Ghana captain was left out of the squad for the recent 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Tackie expressed disappointment in Addo’s stance, questioning why Ghana’s most-capped player and a three-time World Cup veteran is being sidelined.
"How can Ayew, who is actively playing in the French league, be deemed unworthy of a call-up?" he asked.
He further accused Addo of disrespecting Ayew’s contributions to the national team, especially given his leadership and experience in major tournaments.
"Such remarks are not only disrespectful but also undermine his sacrifices and the pride he has brought to Ghana football," Tackie added.
Ayew last featured for the Black Stars in March 2024, during a 2-2 draw against Uganda.
