Ghanaian forward Bernard Tekpetey has urged for reforms to enhance the appeal of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Speaking to Asempa FM, he emphasized the league's potential, saying, "Ghanaians’ deep passion for football could lead to packed stadiums if improvements are made." He pointed to the high attendance possibilities in matches between top clubs like Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. However, Tekpetey noted challenges such as "controversial refereeing decisions" and "betting scandals" that have undermined the league's credibility.
He stressed the need for stronger leadership and investment, stating, "With the right interventions, the league can rival international competitions like the English Premier League." Tekpetey remains optimistic that reform could restore public faith and boost attendance.
