Ghanaian football legend Michael Essien surprised the Black Stars camp. He visited ahead of their Unity Cup match against Trinidad and Tobago this weekend.
Essien, a former Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder, is an iconic figure in Ghanaian football. He interacted with players and the technical team during a training session in London. His visit excited the squad, many of whom idolized him growing up.
Currently, Essien is a coach at Danish club FC Nordsjælland. His visit symbolizes support and unity for the team. The Black Stars are preparing for their third-place match on Saturday, May 31.
The team lost 2-1 to Nigeria on Wednesday. This defeat prevented them from advancing to the finals of the tournament.
