Monza head coach Raffaele Palladino criticized VAR protocol after Inter Milan’s controversial opening goal in their 2-1 win.
The goal resulted from a corner kick awarded despite replays showing the ball had fully crossed the byline, meaning a goal kick should have been given to Fiorentina.
However, VAR does not intervene in such situations, as goalline technology only applies between the posts.
Palladino refrained from blaming the referees but argued that VAR should correct clear mistakes like this. He emphasized that the ball was out by 20 cm and called for changes to prevent similar incidents.
Despite Monza’s frustration, the match continued without intervention, leaving Palladino and his team disappointed.
He insisted that while VAR should not be overused, it must address obvious errors affecting match outcomes.
