Ghanaian sprinters Benjamin Azamati and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu have advanced to the men’s 100m semifinals at the Paris Olympics.
Azamati, the national record holder, secured second place in Heat 1 with a time of 10.08 seconds, while Saminu took third in Heat 7 with 10.06 seconds.
The disqualification of Great Britain's Jeremiah Azu for a false start added controversy to Azamati’s heat.
This marks the first Olympic semifinal appearance for both athletes.
The semifinals are scheduled for Sunday evening.
