Mathias Pogba, brother of French footballer Paul Pogba, has been sentenced to three years prison term by a Paris court, with two years suspended, for his role in an extortion attempt.
Mathias will serve a one-year sentence with an electronic bracelet. He was convicted of attempting to extort 13 million euros from Paul Pogba in 2022, using threats and pressure on the player, his family, and business associates.
The extortion occurred in Manchester and Turin, with Paul recognizing his brother among the gang. The incident followed a breakdown in their relationship, after Paul had previously cut ties with a childhood friend who stole €200,000 from him. The gang also intimidated Paul at his childhood home in Paris.
