Bolgatanga Central MP Isaac Adongo has criticized the poor safety conditions at Ghana Premier League (GPL) venues, calling them “death traps” that require urgent improvements.
Speaking in Parliament, he highlighted the lack of basic medical and security infrastructure, referencing the tragic stabbing of Asante Kotoko fan Francis “Nana Pooley” Frimpong during a match against Nsoatreman FC.
Adongo lamented the absence of ambulances and questioned the police presence at stadiums.
In response, the Ghana Football Association has introduced new Matchday Safety and Security Protocols, including appointing Safety and Security Officers and installing CCTV cameras.
Clubs failing to comply risk a GH₵20,000 fine and venue bans, as the league remains suspended pending investigations.
