Postecoglou sacked by Spurs after Europa League win

Ange Postecoglou has been sacked as Tottenham manager. This happened just 16 days after he led the team to victory in the Europa League final.

Tottenham won 1-0 against Manchester United in Bilbao. This victory marked their first major trophy in 17 years. However, it came at the end of a tough Premier League season. The club finished 17th, losing 22 out of 38 matches.

Postecoglou had told fans that "season three is better than season two." He made this statement during a victory parade celebrating their European success. His time with Spurs ended two years after they announced his hiring from Celtic.

Spurs stated that Postecoglou would be remembered for delivering "one of the club's greatest moments." He became only the third manager in Spurs history to win a European trophy. However, they felt a change was necessary after reviewing performances and could not base their decision on emotions from this triumph.
