Premier League referee David Coote has been dismissed by the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) after an investigation into his conduct.
Coote was suspended on November 11 following the circulation of a video allegedly showing him making derogatory comments about Liverpool and former manager Jürgen Klopp.
Additional allegations emerged, including photos purportedly showing Coote using a white powder at the European Championship. Coote denied the claims, calling them "false and defamatory."
Further scrutiny arose over an alleged conversation about a yellow card before a 2019 match, though no financial wrongdoing was found.
Despite his dismissal for breaching his employment contract, the PGMOL emphasized its commitment to Coote’s welfare. Coote, a Premier League referee since 2018, retains the right to appeal.
