President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to transparency in financing Ghana's national teams, particularly the Black Stars.
In his State of the Nation Address, he emphasized the need for publicly declaring all financial inputs, as they come from taxpayers.
He instructed the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to ensure the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is held accountable for the team's budget.
Mahama's stance comes amid growing scrutiny over the GFA’s financial management. He aims to restore professionalism and efficiency in Ghanaian football while enhancing public confidence.
This follows debates over the Black Stars’ budgets, including the $8.5 million allocated for AFCON 2023.
With crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers ahead, Mahama’s push for accountability seeks to improve sports administration in Ghana.
