Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President, Fred Pappoe, has urged the GFA to prioritize qualifying for the 2026 World Cup following the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 20 years.
The team finished bottom of Group F with only three points. With World Cup qualifiers resuming in March, Pappoe emphasized that securing a spot in the 2026 tournament should be the top priority, warning that failing to qualify would be costly for the country.
Currently, Ghana sits second in Group I with nine points, tied with leaders Comoros. The Black Stars will play Chad and Madagascar in the next qualifiers.
