Sudan assistant coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu considers qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) a greater achievement than securing a World Cup slot.
Alongside head coach Kwesi Appiah, Osei-Fosu helped Sudan finish second in Group F with eight points to earn a spot in next year’s AFCON in Morocco.
While Sudan currently leads Group B in the World Cup qualifiers with ten points after four games, Osei-Fosu believes their AFCON qualification holds more significance.
He emphasized that even if Sudan fails to qualify for their first-ever World Cup, their efforts have restored belief and hope in the nation. Sudan faces Senegal and South Sudan in March 2025 as they continue their World Cup qualifying campaign.
