Ghanaian rapper Darlington Agyekum, known as D-Cryme, is running for President of the Student Representative Council at Methodist University.
He announced his candidacy on social media on April 7, 2025.
In his Facebook post, he said, "Dear fellow students, the time for transformational leadership is NOW!" He emphasized that Team D-Cryme aims to promote transparency, accountability, and action. Their mission is to create a supportive campus for all students.
D-Cryme outlined ten key pillars for his campaign:

2. Academic Support & Resources
3. Student Welfare & Well-being
4. Campus Infrastructure & Development
5. Student Engagement, Governance & Participation
6. Entertainment & Sports
7. Campus Safety & Security
8. Financial Support and Scholarships
9. Amendments and Review of the Constitution
10. Mature Student Dialogue Q&A
A week earlier, he expressed his vision for the university community in another post. He stated that the university is more than just a learning place; it’s a vibrant community where dreams come alive.
D-Cryme highlighted his past contributions to the institution. He mentioned initiatives like the Wall of Fame and the Digital Screen Initiative aimed at enhancing communication on campus.
He believes his vision for the SRC is bold and dynamic, focused on student needs.
This marks the third time a Ghanaian musician has run for student leadership recently. Samini was sworn in as SRC President at GIMPA in August 2022. Currently, Maradona Adjei Yeboah (Guru) serves as SRC President at the University of Ghana.
D-Cryme is known for popular songs like "Kill Me Shy," "Me Ne Woaa," "Fine Fine Girl," and "My Lady."
