Real Madrid’s Antonio Rüdiger sidelined for two months with knee injury

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger will be out for up to two months. He underwent knee surgery on Tuesday, according to sources from ESPN. This means he will miss the rest of the LaLiga season. His participation in this summer's Club World Cup is also at risk.

The club hopes Rüdiger will be fit for preseason. They want to avoid taking unnecessary risks with his recovery. Rüdiger expressed determination on Instagram to return in time for both tournaments. He stated he would "do everything" possible to make it happen.

Rüdiger shared that he had played for over seven months with severe pain. He said undergoing meniscus surgery was unavoidable. Now, he feels pain-free and considers the surgery a success. However, he plans to take it week by week regarding his return.

In the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, Rüdiger was substituted during extra time. His team lost 3-2, and he received a red card afterward. He threw an object onto the pitch and confronted the referee.

Rüdiger had been playing with a heavily bandaged knee before being withdrawn. He later apologized on social media, saying there was "no excuse for my behavior."
