Real Madrid’s controversial 1-0 defeat to Espanyol earlier this month has sparked tensions with the Spanish Football Federation.
The club was furious over referee Alejandro Muniz Ruiz and VAR’s decision not to send off Carlos Romero for a foul on Kylian Mbappe, especially since Romero later scored the winning goal.
In response, Real Madrid sent a formal complaint to the Federation, boycotted a key meeting, and demanded access to VAR audio from the incident.
The Federation has approved the request, with a club delegation set to review the footage next week.
Officials hope this step will restore relations, but the controversy has already caused friction with other La Liga clubs, deepening institutional divisions within Spanish football.
