Real Madrid have been working on signing Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the belief that a deal is nearly complete. The Liverpool right-back’s contract expires this summer, making him a free agent.
While he fits Madrid’s need for a right-back replacement, his defensive weaknesses were exposed against Manchester City, where he was dribbled past 11 times.
Madrid view this as a concern but believe he can improve with mentorship from Dani Carvajal.
Federico Valverde could also provide cover in big games. Despite defensive flaws, Alexander-Arnold’s attacking prowess makes him an appealing target.
Liverpool, however, have not given up on keeping him. If he joins Madrid, he will have the resources to refine his game and adapt to their tactical demands.
