Real Madrid make contact with Arsenal star's representatives

Real Madrid has contacted William Saliba's representatives regarding a potential transfer next summer, according to reports.

The 23-year-old defender has been a key figure for Arsenal since returning from a loan at Marseille in 2022, despite a season-ending injury in his first full campaign. Saliba has missed only one of Arsenal's last 59 Premier League games and is regarded as one of the best centre-backs globally. With injuries to Eder Militao and David Alaba, Madrid is looking to strengthen their defense, though they won’t pursue reinforcements in January.

A move for Saliba, whose contract runs until 2027, could require a significant fee. Madrid is also eyeing RB Leipzig's Castello Lukeba as a more affordable alternative.
