Carlo Ancelotti has defended Real Madrid’s decision to boycott FIFA’s The Best awards ceremony, where Manchester City’s Rodri Hernandez won the top prize.
He stated that the club believed Vinicius Junior should have won the previous year and saw no reason to attend.
Despite criticism, Ancelotti insisted that the decision was not meant as disrespect toward Rodri.
Vinicius, currently struggling with injuries and a goal drought, remains a key player, with Ancelotti praising his contributions this season.
Ancelotti himself won Manager of the Year at the awards, while other Madrid players were also recognized.
Reports suggest some Madrid representatives were unhappy with the boycott, but Ancelotti and the club presented a united front in support of Vinicius.
