Novak Djokovic is recovering faster than expected from his thigh injury and will compete in the Doha ATP 500 tournament from 17 to 22 February.
Initially, he was expected to miss months, possibly returning for the clay season, but Serbian media confirmed the injury was less severe. Despite not practicing since the Australian Open, Djokovic is ready to return.
In a surprising move, former Spanish player Fernando Verdasco will coach Djokovic in Doha.
Verdasco, who retired in 2023, has a strong relationship with Djokovic and has been living in Qatar.
Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, will face top players like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in the tournament. Meanwhile, his collaboration with Andy Murray as a coach will continue until Wimbledon.
